Royal Marines Heritage Trail Launch!

If you would like to see the finest Military Band in the world then get yourself to Deal on Monday 23rd April 2018!

With a Royal Marines presence in Deal and Walmer for over 350 years, the Royal Marines Heritage Trail has been created so that the rich history of our town can be kept alive and thriving.

The Launch Event will formally commence at 3pm with a parade from the Jubilee Gates of the former Royal Marines South Barracks.

The Collingwood Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines and a guard from 42 Commando Royal Marines will march via Dover Road, along The Strand to Deal Castle. The parade will arrive on the grass area in front of the Castle by 3.25pm.

They will be joined by the new Commandant General Royal Marines, Major General Charles Stickland, the Lord Lieutenant of Kent, Viscount De L’Isle and the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, Admiral of the Fleet The Lord Boyce.

The Launch of the Trail will then commence. After the presentation the Royal Marines will exercise their right to the Freedom of Deal at approximately 4pm.

The Collingwood Band and 42 Commando will then march to Deal Town Hall with “Band Playing, Colours Flying and Bayonets Fixed” via the seafront, King Street and along the High Street with a contingent of over 50 Royal Marines Association members and Veterans with Standards, approximately 26 Ladies formerly of the Women’s Royal Naval Service, Royal Marines Cadets and Sea Cadets.
