We aim to keep Deal and Walmer’s Royal Marine heritage alive and thriving, working regularly with schools, local groups and organisations to make sure that the wider local community has the opportunity to understand the history and legacy of the landmarks in their own town. We hope that the descendants of the 554,544 former Royal Marine recruits, and their families, who passed through RM Depot Deal will be excited to see their legacy celebrated with this trail, and will be tempted to visit Deal and Walmer once more.
As we move closer to the launch on April 23rd 2018 we are engaging further with the community, finalising trail booklets, the web site and social media campaigns. The final task before officially opening will be to install bronze commemorative plaques at each point on the trail.
